i don’t know about this but thought this was intriguing and also convincing @ the same time. according to JDJ a survey conducted by Evans Data Corp. shows that javascript is the preferred computer language in europe, middle east and africa(emea).
they also reported that the javascript’s success could further be attributed due to the continuing growth of AJAX and web development. the report mentioned that 38% of developers use AJAX – a 30 percent increase in the last year.
“Web 2.0 is a powerful dynamic that is sweeping the Internet,” said John Andrews, president and CEO of Evans Data Corp. “We’re seeing a lot of excitement about rich Internet apps, mashups, and AJAX in all regions, but especially so in EMEA, and this is spurring the growth in JavaScript use.”

Yes, it is the same in Asia. Scripting languages in general have been outstripping 3G languages everywhere as far as programming in the general population goes – much faster growth, and Javascript is by far and away the leading scripting language. Java itself does very well in large enterprise environments, but much of new development is for the web and that is where Javascript has taken the far away lead.
