super-typhoon Yolanda (internationally named, Haiyan), which just passed Philippines has now been reported to have claimed over 100 souls, infrastructures devastated and many homeless (thus far). and PINOYs just like in Ondoy took to the web and found ways to help out their fellow men.
Google, offered a crowdsourced crisis response map for PINOYs to track Yolanda as it crosses over The Philippines. the site shows landslides, flood-prone areas as well as information for evacuation centers, hospitals and command posts. its also offers organizations willing to give out reliefs.

Typhoon Yolanda has been tagged as the biggest storm this year and one of the biggest storms to landfall in this planet’s history. it was considered a category 5 hurricane (and 3.5 times more forceful than Katrina).

the non-stop monsoon rains has now shown images of floods in the various places of Metro Manila. school and work has been cancelled and rescue operations are underway. there are now news that the amount of rainfall has surpassed that of Ondoy.

DOST Launches Project Noah – Philippine’s Real-time Weather Forecast
The Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST) rolled out Project Noah, a real-time weather monitoring, which hopes to give awareness of weather conditions to all PINOYs.
http://noah.dost.gov.ph, a two-month-old project uses tools and censors to monitor clouds and gauge the amount of rainfall in a particular area.
you can search by location, check rain probability, see a flood map history (includes the Ondoy flood map, and shows up to 100yrs of flood history), choose from weather stations, weather temperature contours, and doppler forecasts from different regions in the country.
Philippines professor Alfredo Mahar Lagmay said, “A farmer before drying un-milled rice under the sun, a fisherman before sailing for his daily catch, a family about to go on vacation, they will know immediately if it’s going to rain or not.”
